Pekka Sauri, was called Helsinki’s ‘Twitter Mayor’ and used it to run his office through Twitter when it had hardly been invented. He interacted with his 1000s of followers in order to shortcut decision making. Fredrik Lindstal, Stockholm’s former deputy mayor for labour is an entrepreneur turned politician and is chair of Glad Stad, which provides urban planning solutions especially focusing on temporary projects. Katja Lindroos, Fredrik Lindstål, Pekka Sauri
Katja Lindroos (MA) is the CEO of Urban Practice, a Helsinki-based office working with urban change, and the co-founder of Nordic CityMaking Week. She advocates societal entrepreneurship in tackling challenges of sustainability and inclusivity in cities. Urban Practice designs models for cross-sectoral collaboration and produces among others Lähiöfest – festival of neighbourhoods and Kaupunkioppi – an education program for schools. Urban Practice is also the founder of the Creative Bureaucrats group in Finland.
Lindroos has a background in journalism, education and communications. She has been the editor-in-chief of several magazines and publications, written books and produced tv programs. Lindroos is a frequent lecturer at the Aalto University in Espoo, Finland.
Nordic CityMaking is a forum and a movement based in the Nordics connecting citymakers across countries, cities and communities initiated by Urban Practice in 2020.

Fredrik Lindstål is City Council Member to the City of Stockholm
(Centerpartiet) and until the end of 2019 he was the Vice Mayor. He is
the chairman of the board for for ex. Stockholms Hamnar (Stockholm
Harbours organisation) and Stockholm Globe Arena.
Fredrik Lindstål is the founder and the chairman of the board Sweden’s
largest placemaking organisation Glad Stad. Among Glad Stad’s
initiatives is Hornstulls Marknad – Stockholm’s largest weekend market
welcoming 1.5 m visitors yearly.
Thank to his broad range of experience Fredrik Lindstål is able to look
at the city from various perspectives and is interested in among others
placemaking for innovation, creative bureaucracy and collaborations.
Pekka Sauri, PhD, holds the position of professor of practice in
organisational communication at the University of Helsinki. He also
works as an advisor to the communications firm Tekir and Aalto
University Executive Education.
Pekka Sauri has been active in municipal politics in Helsinki since the
1980s. He was the deputy mayor of Helsinki for almost 14 years between
2003 and 2017. In addition, he has been the Green Party’s party
secretary and chairman.
Mr Sauri is also known in the media, most famously as a psychologist on
the radio show Yölinja. In addition, he is the author of several fiction
and non-fiction books.
