The Power of Placemaking: Redesigning Public Spaces
Too often, public spaces are overlooked by policymakers and bureaucrats, but they play a critical role in empowering communities and providing a platform for voices to be heard.
In this session, we’ll explore how to make quality place creation a priority on more bureaucrats’ agendas. We’ll also discuss how to foster stronger relationships between policy makers, urban practitioners, academics, community leaders, artists and creatives, local businesses, and other actors involved in shaping our cities.
The ‘Placemaking’ movement focuses on sharing knowledge and tools, exchanging ideas, and advocating for better public space policies. We’ll hear from key voices behind this movement in Europe and Latin America, who will share their experiences and insights on what it means to be a placemaker and how to get involved.
Join us for an informative and inspiring session as we explore the power of Placemaking in creating more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable communities.
This is a Meet-Up event, where guests have the opportunity to build new connections and participate in a facilitated networking session among a small group of attendees.
Speakers: Hans Karssenberg, Vivian Doumpa, Carolina Huffmann, Milagros Hurtig, Laura Sobral
