Lindsay Cole

Lindsay Cole, PhD, is a public and social innovation practitioner, applied researcher, educator, and author working at the intersection of public sector transformation, sustainability, and systems change. She is currently a Research Associate with the University of British Columbia and also works as an independent consultant. Previously, she founded and led the Solutions Lab at the City of Vancouver, where she spent 13 years helping develop and test new approaches to some of the city’s most complex social and ecological challenges. Her earlier work with the City included leading the planning and public engagement process for Vancouver’s Greenest City Action Plan. More recently, she completed postdoctoral research on transformative public sector innovation and served as Social Innovation Researcher in Residence with Emily Carr University and Metro Vancouver’s Zero Emissions Innovation Centre. Her first book, Transforming the Public Sector from Within, is forthcoming in 2026.

Lindsay Cole (Ph.D.) ist Praktikerin im Bereich öffentlicher und sozialer Innovation, angewandte Forscherin, Dozentin und Autorin, die an der Schnittstelle zwischen Transformation des öffentlichen Sektors, Nachhaltigkeit und Systemwandel tätig ist. Derzeit ist sie wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der University of British Columbia und arbeitet zudem als unabhängige Beraterin. Zuvor gründete und leitete sie das „Solutions Lab“ der Stadt Vancouver, wo sie 13 Jahre lang an der Entwicklung und Erprobung neuer Ansätze für einige der komplexesten sozialen und ökologischen Herausforderungen der Stadt mitwirkte. Zu ihren früheren Aufgaben bei der Stadt gehörte die Leitung des Planungs- und Bürgerbeteiligungsprozesses für Vancouvers „Greenest City Action Plan“. Zuletzt schloss sie eine Postdoktorandenforschung zum Thema transformative Innovation im öffentlichen Sektor ab und war als Social Innovation Researcher in Residence an der Emily Carr University und am Zero Emissions Innovation Centre von Metro Vancouver tätig. Ihr erstes Buch, „Transforming the Public Sector from Within“, erscheint 2026.
