Jon-Paul Hedge is a Director at Exeter City Council.
He is responsible for culture, leisure and tourism across the city and has just delivered the £42million project St Sidwell’s Point – the country’s first Passivhaus leisure complex.
He is the lead for the city’s Sport England Delivery Pilot Live and Move and responsible for tackling barriers to health and wellbeing.
Originally an NCE and NCTJ qualified senior journalist and editor, he worked for 15 years in regional media before first joining local government as Director of Communications and Marketing.
His non-executive director positions have included InExeter (Exeter BID), Exeter Science Park and tri-council IT service Strata.
He is was the founding chair of the city’s successful UNESCO City of Literature bid and responsible for delivering on the city’s Cultural Strategy and embedding culture into decision making.
Jon-Paul is responsible for the city narrative Exeter Live Better and positioning the city as The Brilliant Alternative. Current collaborations include Liveable Exeter and the Creative Arc with The University of Exeter.
