The Joy of Citizening: How to Open Up Our Institutions Before They Die

We’re in a situation where democracy might die, and no one will be to blame. This is HARD. We have to open up our institutions to invite people in, intentionally and inclusively, as otherwise we’ll drive people in the other direction: away from democracy. But maybe, just maybe, the way forward could be seriously joyful.

In this conversation, participatory democracy pioneers Jon Alexander, award-winning author of Citizens, and Katy Rubin, founder of The People Act: Legislative Theatre, will make a clear and provocative call for dramatic change to our institutions AND show us how responding to that call could be powerful and even (whisper it) fun.
