Siegfried Russwurm

Siegfried Russwurm is a German engineer and business executive who is the President of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech). He studied production engineering at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, where he also earned a PhD in mechanical engineering, and later became an honorary professor in mechatronics.

He spent much of his career at Siemens, holding senior leadership roles including Member of the Managing Board and Chief Technology Officer. He is currently Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of Thyssenkrupp and Voith Group and previously served as President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) from 2021 to 2024, with a strong focus on industrial innovation, technology policy, and “Industry 4.0.”
