Oscar Santiago Uribe Rocha is the first Chief Resilience Officer (CRO) of Medellín, Colombia – and only the second CRO appointed anywhere in the world. Before becoming CRO, he worked for three years as executive director of social innovation at Pigmalion, where he coordinated a number of research programmes on issues such as disaster risk management, reproductive health and mental health of local youth. From 2007 to 2010 he served as administrative assistant on cultural and economic affairs at the Colombian Embassy in South Africa, where he coordinated official visits and the exchange of experiences and knowledge for the implementation of the country's bus rapid transit systems.
