Jonathan Roth studied cultural anthropology and archaeology in Mainz and Stockholm. Between 2011 and 2021, he worked at the Institute for Film, Theater, Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Mainz, where he undertook research on the topics of memory culture, political anthropology, urban culture and cultural policy. In addition, he is a trained theater educator and was involved in various theater and performance projects. In his work, he repeatedly combines artistic and scientific approaches, for example in the urban research project “Urban Niches”, the results of which were published in the form of a digital parcours (www.urbanenischen.de). Since 2022, Jonathan Roth has been working as a cultural manager for the city of Rüsselsheim, where he is responsible for municipal cultural funding and the development of the independent art and culture scene. During this time, he founded the “Bel R!” art festival with young cultural activists from the city, which will be launched for the third time in 2025. The father of two sons lives with his family in Wiesbaden.
