Amitendu Palit is an economist specializing in international trade and investment policies, geoeconomics, Asian connectivity, regional political economy and the Indian economy. He is with ISAS in NUS since 28 April 2008.
Earlier, he worked for several years in the Ministry of Finance, India, and in the Ministries of Industry and Civil Supplies. He was on Advisory Committees of the Planning Commission and ILO. He is in the Expert Network of the World Economic Forum and Adjunct Faculty with the Centre for WTO Studies, India.
Some of Amitendu’s many books include 'India and the Future of G20' (2023,Bloomsbury, co-ed) 'Globalisation Impacts: Countries, Institutions and COVID19’ (2022, Springer, ed), ‘Seven Decades of Independent India’ (2018, Penguin; co-ed), 'The Trans Pacific Partnership, China and India: Economic and Political Implications' (2014; Routledge) and 'China India Economics: Challenges, Competition and Collaboration' (2011; Routledge). He has extensive  peer-reviewed academic journal publications and sits on editorial boards of journals.
A columnist for India's 'Financial Express', he is an expert for BBC,Bloomberg News, Channel News Asia, CNBC, ABC, CGTN and Doordarshan (India). An Indian national, he is married to Parama Sinha Palit and is based in Singapore.
