Creative Bureaucracy Festival @ Innovate 2023
The Creative Bureaucracy Festival team visited Vienna at the end of November and had the privilege of participating for the first time at Innovate 2023 – the conference on innovation management in the public sector in Austria. There were many special encounters with long-time friends of the festival and new Austrian connections.
Together with our partners Love Politics and BMKÖS (Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport), the Creative Bureaucracy Festival organised a pre-event a day before the conference, on 29 November 2023, at Impact Hub Vienna.
Under theme "Collective Intelligence, Evidence, and Innovation in Administration & Politics – Making Knowledge Useful," participants from politics and administration (municipal, state, city, and EU levels) discussed how knowledge transfer within a complex system of cooperation and collaboration among involved actors can enable better policy-making.
A particular focus was on the question of how the use of open data in administration can be improved. Following stimulating content inputs from, among others, Stefan Thurner (Complexity Science Hub Vienna), Brigitte Lutz (Data Governance City Vienna), and Christian Kemperle (BMKÖS), participants had the opportunity to engage directly and on an equal footing in discussions at five themed tables covering the overarching categories of ethics, cooperation, capacity building, structures, and networks.
Together, everyone developed ideas and made strategic plans to get a sustainable administration off the ground. We are excited to see what will come out of all these great thoughts and inputs collected
