The largest festival for public sector innovation returns with a live event on 2 June and three digital days, the first on 24 March as the Digital Kick-Off Day
Berlin, 9 March 2022. On 24 March 2022, the Creative Bureaucracy Festival will kick off a new year of celebrating innovation in the public sector with the Digital Kick-Off Day. Participation in the online event is free of charge. The day's programme includes 17 German language sessions and 15 international sessions, which the festival jury selected from around 200 nominations from over 30 countries. Access the free livestream on the festival's homepage at: creativebureaucracy.org/digital-kick-off-day/.
After hitting new records in the digital festival edition in 2021, with more than 18,000 visitors from 94 countries, the Creative Bureaucracy Festival is starting the new year with an expanded programme. On 2 June 2022, the international forum of innovators in the public sector will again take place live in person in Berlin. In addition to a welcoming address by Wolfgang Schmidt, the head of the German Federal Chancellery, many other creative minds are expected to attend. On 24 March 2022, the Creative Bureaucracy Festival is also hosting a Digital Kick-Off Day. Two more community events are planned for the second half of the year.
For the digital event on 24 March, the 16-member international festival jury took over the curation of the programme and selected the best projects from around 200 submissions. As Charles Landry, president of the festival, shares, "We were surprised and delighted by the number of applications from all parts of the world. Creative bureaucracy is truly a movement in the making."
During the Digital Kick-Off Day, the audience will determine six winners who will be offered the opportunity to present on the main stage at this year’s Creative Bureaucracy Festival live in Berlin on 2 June.
The day's agenda includes topics such as #AdministrationHacks, digital citizen participation, a legislative lab, and co-working hubs for the administration. Among the speakers will be Dr. Markus Richter, State Secretary, and IT Commissioner of the German Federal Government (CIO Bund). In addition to German ministries and municipalities, international universities such as Harvard University and government innovation organisations of all types are involved – from Mexico to Australia, Israel, and Colombia. The Digital Kick-Off Day will be moderated by TV journalist Astrid Frohloff and festival president Charles Landry.
This year, the Creative Bureaucracy Festival will again be held in partnership with PD - advisor to the public sector. "As in-house consultants to the public sector, we are in daily exchange with administrative professionals who are boldly driving innovation," says Claus Wechselmann, managing director of PD. "We would like to offer them and their projects a stage - the CBF creates an ideal framework for this. That's why we, as PD, are participating in the design of the CBF for the third year in a row as the main festival partner - and together with our customers, we are paving the way for the administration of the future."
Other festival project partners include the Berlin Senate Chancellery, the German Federal Ministry of the Interior and Homeland, and the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt.
