Workshop: Assessing dynamic capabilities of public institutions
Current crises like the war on Ukraine, the Covid-19 pandemic and the climate crisis have highlighted a need for public organisations to not only develop long-term solutions, but also to respond to crises in agile and dynamic ways. This workshop looks at how we can recognise and enhance dynamic capabilities in the public sphere.
Following an introductory impulse by Sébastien Renaud (DG REFORM, European Commission), Rainer Kattel (UCL IIPP) will share insights into how we can increase innovation capabilities and crisis resilience of public organisations for the future and discuss approaches – in-house and beyond – and experiences with participants of the workshop.
As part of these discussions, we’ll hear short case studies from two countries who have embraced such capability building as a top priority via initiatives led by their finance ministries: Denmark (Michael Elkjaer Pedersen) and Cyprus (Natasa Akkidou).
