Reaching Net Zero: Closing the Green Skills Gap in Government
The event is by invitation only.
Few public servants would deny the urgency of the climate crisis or question the global ambition of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. However, when it comes to taking action, many get stuck: they simply haven’t been empowered to push this agenda forward. In a recent study, Apolitical revealed that 80% of public servants don’t have the tools or the training to tackle the climate crisis. This problem could be referred to as the „government green skills gap.“
The urgent question is: how do we address this? What pain points and blockers are stopping public servants from making progress on net-zero goals? What untapped opportunities could accelerate progress? Are these considerations the same across geographies?
This discussion will bring together 15 public leaders and key allies from across the globe who are supporting climate work to explore these questions. The discussion will be hosted and moderated by Apolitical in the context of their newly launched Government Climate Campus which offers free or heavily-discounted tools and training to public servants to help them grow their ability to advance climate action.
This is a Background Table event, an invite-only roundtable discussion where guests can participate in conversations about pressing topics.
