Cities in Placemaking: Peer-Learning for Better Public Places
Cities in Placemaking is a 2-year learning programme for municipal public administrations spearheaded by Placemaking Europe which started in March 2023. The programme aims to create awareness and practical knowledge about placemaking and builds a group of innovative, solution-oriented and passionate city representatives who put placemaking at the heart of urban transformation.
Participants from the 13 mid-sized European cities involved hold a range of local government roles that in one way or another relate to the design, governance, and management of public space – from Chief Design Officers to Senior Architects and Planners, Social Inclusion Specialists to Deputy Mayors.
Now one year into the programme, representatives from the Placemaking Europe team and the participant cities reflect on their lessons learned, progress to date and the next steps on their peer-learning journey.
Participating cities include: Bergen (Norway), Bradford (United Kingdom), Budapest (Hungary), Cork (Ireland), The Hague (The Netherlands), Helsingborg (Sweden), Helsinki (Finland), Reggio Emilia (Italy), Rotterdam (The Netherlands), Trenčín (Slovakia), Vila Nova de Famalicão (Portugal), Vinnytsia (Ukraine) and Wroclaw (Poland).
