Julia Ayeni is an “urban regenerator” based in Northern California. Julia began her professional career in London, England as a project manager overseeing various urban regeneration projects for the London Borough of Bexley. Her portfolio focused predominantly on economic development strategies for town centres, public realm improvements, and creative and engaging “meanwhile use” activations for spaces experiencing a time of transition. Following her 2.5 years spent studying and working in London, Julia returned to Northern California to work as a project manager for the San Francisco Parks Alliance, and subsequently as project manager with San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development. Julia’s portfolio covers a range of approaches to a more collaborative planning process, including the creation of the India Basin Waterfront Park Equitable Development Plan, the Shine On SF initiative, and Mayor Breed’s Roadmap to San Francisco’s Future. Julia earned her MSc in Urban Regeneration from University College London, and her BA in Sociology from Saint Mary’s College of California.
