Amy Cohen is the Business Generation Manager at the Port of San Francisco. Prior to January 2023, for the past 15+ years Amy worked in multiple roles at the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development, where most recently she was the Director of Public Space Regeneration. Amy is an urban strategist, program developer and grantmaker who designs ambitious cross-sector initiatives that bring new life to places that need it – from underutilized public spaces, empty buildings and vacant storefronts to neighborhoods and, more recently, downtown San Francisco. Throughout her career, she has built partnerships with a broad array of stakeholders, including residents of low-income neighborhoods, to co-create change, build community, and rebuild trust in government. Amy’s portfolio has included an ambitious citywide campaign to care for public spaces, multiple new community ambassador programs aimed at stewarding public space, and neighborhood revitalization efforts in Mid Market, Civic Center, and now Fisherman’s Wharf. Amy is a graduate of a Masters program in community development at University of California, Davis and has a BA from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Amy lives in the Portola district of San Francisco next to McLaren Park with her husband and two teenage boys.
