Intergenerational Fairness Strategy for EU Citizens
In collaboration with European Commission.
The Intergenerational Fairness Strategy, launched by Commissioner Glenn Micallef, aims to ensure that no generation lives at the expense of the next ones. This includes future generations—people we have not yet met, and perhaps never will, as they will come after us. It is known that most people care about intergenerational fairness but do not trust the political institutions tasked with ensuring it. Improving intergenerational fairness is, therefore, a matter of improving public administration’s trustworthiness and long-term governance capacity.
One way to do this is to involve many different parts of the Commission as well as external stakeholders from the very beginning of the project. The strategy is built on co-creation and shared understanding. This is why the process has been opened as much as possible—a rare approach in typical EU Commission work. A panel discussion invites others to learn more and to share insights in return.
