Shawgi Omer Nawai

Shawgi Omer Nawai is the Managing Director of PLACE Network, a European organization and platform advancing inclusive societies by centering the leadership, creativity, and expertise of people with migration backgrounds. Across Europe and beyond, PLACE works at the intersection of culture, democracy, and socio-economic innovation to ensure that those most affected by structural inequalities and barriers are shaping the systems that govern our collective future. Shawgi is a social activist with extensive experience in participative democracy, with a particular focus on social justice and community development. In parallel, he is a doctoral candidate at the École des Ponts Business School in Paris, where he works on TechDemocracy and Belonging in the workplace. Shawgi is also a PPVNE Fellow at Salzburg Global, a TILN Fellow of the German Marshall Fund, a fellow at the Global Diplomacy, and a member of the BMW Foundation Responsible Leaders Network.
