Ramon Marrades is an economist and urbanist working where public space, culture, civic innovation and institutions meet. He is Director of Placemaking Europe, a European foundation and network connecting practitioners, cities and communities around inclusive, people-centred public spaces, and founder of Vigla, an applied research anti-consultancy. Through Placemaking Europe, he co-directs Placemaking Week Europe, hosted in València, Pontevedra, Strasbourg, Rotterdam, Reggio Emilia and Wrocław, and helps lead Cities in Placemaking, where cities learn, test and act together. After the DANA floods in València, he works on citizen-led recovery, with a civic observatory for reconstruction and transformation. At La Marina de València, he helped turn around a contested waterfront through uses, programming and public life. He speaks about open, imaginative cities and institutions. He played bass in Geografies and 121dB, and recently realised punk rock ethics shape his work as an urbanist.
