Banu Pekol

Banu Pekol ist Senior Program Manager bei der BMW Stiftung Herbert Quandt. Seit fast zwei Jahrzehnten widmet sie ihre Karriere der Friedensförderung und Konfliktlösung durch urbane Transformation, insbesondere unter Einbeziehung der bebauten Landschaft. Derzeit arbeitet sie bei der BMW Stiftung an der Förderung von sozialer Gerechtigkeit und Nachhaltigkeit in städtischen Gebieten. Zuvor konzentrierte sie sich auf interkulturelle und interreligiöse Konfliktlösung bei der Berghof Foundation. Ihre Arbeit umfasst die Entwicklung kreativer, forschungsbasierter Projekte, die Kulturdiplomatie, die Interpretation von umstrittenem Kulturerbe und effektives Management fördern. Als Mitbegründerin der türkischen Vereinigung zum Schutz des kulturellen Erbes (KMKD) entwickelte sie innovative Strategien zur Erhaltung umstrittener Kulturerbestätten und zur Förderung gleichberechtigter Bürgerrechte. Sie hat Ausstellungen in Deutschland, Griechenland und der Türkei kuratiert.

Banu Pekol is a Senior Program Manager at BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt. For nearly two decades, she has dedicated her career to peacebuilding and conflict resolution through urban transformation, especially involving the built landscape. Currently working with the BMW Foundation to foster social justice and sustainability in urban areas, she previously focused on intercultural and interreligious conflict resolution at the Berghof Foundation. Her work spans the development of creative, research-based projects that promote cultural diplomacy, contested heritage interpretation and effective management. As a co-founder of Turkey’s Association for the Protection of Cultural Heritage (KMKD), she developed innovative strategies to preserve contested heritage sites and foster equal citizenship. She has curated exhibitions in Germany, Greece and Turkey.
