2025 Right Livelihood Laureate & Taiwan's Cyber Ambassador
Audrey Tang is a civic hacker, co-author of *Plurality* and the forthcoming "6-Pack of Care" Civic AI framework, and an inaugural senior accelerator fellow at Oxford's Institute for Ethics in AI.
As Taiwan's first Digital Minister (2016–2024) and the world's first nonbinary cabinet minister, she was awarded the 2025 Right Livelihood Award for "advancing the social use of digital technology to empower citizens, renew democracy and heal divides."
A self-taught child prodigy turned Silicon Valley entrepreneur by 19, Tang helped launch g0v and shaped Taiwan's 2014 Sunflower Movement. Her participatory platforms like vTaiwan and Join, the COVID-era "Mask Map," and defenses against 2024 election interference helped lift public trust in government from single digits to over 70%.
In 2025, she co-launched ROOST in Paris to build decentralized safety infrastructure. Her guiding aim: to be a "good enough ancestor."
