Mikael Sokero currently leads the entire capacity building work at Demos Helsinki. This role involves developing, testing and scaling new learning concepts, developing internal capabilities and managing a global partner network. Demos Helsinki specializes in skills and capacities necessary for leading societal transformation, including but not limited to Futures and Foresight, Just Transition, Economy of Wellbeing and Climate Governance.
Thematically Mikael’s specialization is in anticipatory governance, agile leadership and knowledge-based leadership. He delivers annually around 40 trainings on these topics to senior civil servants and experts in civil service around the world.
As a person who is interested basically in everything, Mikael has also worked extensively on sustainable development eg. by designing and facilitating challenge prize programs, accelerator programs, experimentation programs and business development programs but also by providing strategic advice on circular economy, SDG’s in Finland, low carbon life styles and sustainable mobility. Moreover, Mikael has worked as a strategic advisor for numerous higher education institutions in Finland supporting the leadership by providing operational context analyses, strategic insight on science policy and designing participatory strategy processes.
