Civic participation is at the heart of democracy. Yet so often citizens aren’t involved at all in their political system or policymaking processes. Creative Bureaucrats and their allies listen to individuals and their communities and find ways to actively involve them in the decisions that will affect their futures, providing agency and building trust along the way.
Civic Action Teams: Creative Convening and Community Mobilization (Fri, 17 Sep, 10:00-10:30): Initiatives such as Gov-HER-nance, a pioneering campaign initiated by Accountability Lab Nepal (ALN) in collaboration with female local government representatives in Nepal’s Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city, brings in new voices and finds solutions to issues of gender equity, local development, and open government. We share key lessons around the role civil society organizations (CSOs) in supporting inclusive policy making processes.
