Working for the Best City in the World

Working in the public service of the state of Berlin means working for the common good and having a truly creative and meaningful job. Approximately 128,000 people work in Berlin’s public authorities every day to ensure that things are safe, social and fair in the city, that our children are well educated, that streets, parks and indoor swimming pools are clean and intact, that our environment is protected and much more. Without them, Berlin would not function as a home for millions of people, as the capital of Germany and as a European metropolis. Become a part of it!

The diversity of our city society should also be reflected in our employees: We are looking for people with a wide range of skills and competences for the city’s public service. We are looking for people who are flexible enough to adapt to the city’s rapid economic, cultural and digital changes and, above all, people who are responsible and willing to help. We need capital city makers!

In this context, the Berlin administration is also committed to equal opportunities in the recruitment and further development of employees and pursues the goal of recognising, valuing and promoting differences and similarities as social potential. We are convinced that this potential is a decisive factor for our successful, innovative and public welfare-oriented work.

In addition, the Berlin administration scores with versatile opportunities to keep work and private life in balance, secure employment, solid pay and individual personnel development, which is reinforced by numerous training opportunities.
