- The subject of a session must be practice focused and people centered
- The session must be insightful, relevant and offer at least one take away
- The presentation must be engaging, diverting and approachable
You are completely in charge of the production of your session. Feel free to include different media types (slides, video, photos, etc.). We in fact believe, after more than a year in constant Zoom meetings: The less talking heads the better!
Yes, for the preproduced sessions we ask you to produce your session and submit a mp4 file. You are free to use any kind of production infrastructure you want – be it a professional TV studio, a Zoom room or your cell phone camera. After having received your video file we will take care of ‘packaging’ it with the festival intro etc.
No, we would like you to present an abstract and a statement for the application, possibly a video pitch. The actual video needs to be submitted by August 15th.
You don’t have to produce an intro or jingle but we will add that after submission and add a common “look & feel” to all sessions.
You absolutely do not need to travel to Berlin. The possibility to produce sessions remotely has been a critical factor in our decision to once again plan for a fully remote festival 2021.
Please make sure that your abstract gives a clear overview of the intended session subject, i.e. the topic, the project, the person. of the people involved and the relevance of it all for the festival audience. Please do not exceed the character count and note that shorter, succinct proposals are more than welcome.
Please submit in English or German. The proposal must be in the same language as you would like to hold your session in.
Anyone who identifies as Creative Bureaucrat or an ally of such (from any sector) is very welcome to participate in the CBF and to submit a proposal.
On stage formats will be livestreamed in a specific time slot on either of the two festival stages. Off stage formats will be presented at different virtual “sites” of the festival (website, social media, partner channels, etc.) and not livestreamed. Curating the off stage and on stage program is an ongoing process and the time slot and/or virtual ‘location’ of each session will be determined at a later stage.
Please make sure you have at least the main speakers confirmed. If you would like to submit a panel session for the barcamp, please make sure you have all the speakers informed and invited.
Please upload a picture of each speaker and submit their full names and 2-3 sentences about their background and relation to the topic. We will send you a link to another form to submit all these details.
A good session title informs the audience about what they can expect to take away from the session and gets the audience interested. For example “Simple language – How bureaucracies can become better in reaching the people” is better than “Bureaucracy and simple language”.
Please create a short statement of 300-350 characters, that very briefly states the key idea of your proposal and will later be added to the website and the program.
Secondly, please write an abstract of max. 2000 characters that describes the session that you would like to present in a bit more detail.
If you would like to submit video material, please submit either the full video, a trailer, or an excerpt of the video material that shows the style and theme of the video. If you have video material for your application, you do not have to write an abstract, but it can possibly be a helpful addition.
