Motivating Young Prisoners by Thinking Differently
As public servants, it’s our responsibility to make sure the people who are affected by changes that we propose have a say in what those changes look like. Having made our marks in the fields of participatory and public service design, we want to tell you about our most exciting project so far; we are co-creating an educational program with and for young people in detention centers all across the Netherlands. Working together with teachers, social workers and incarcerated youth who all have different needs, personalities and perspectives isn’t easy. However, it’s the only way to create something that will be successful and meaningful. If you ever wonder why citizens won’t show up to your consultation events, struggle with engaging ‘hard to reach groups’ or ask yourself how to facilitate a deep and meaningful exchange with people who ‘did not sign up for this’ then this talk is for you.
This session is part of the “Bureaucracy 2045: Thinking afresh” block, which runs from 13:30-14:15 CET. The sessions in this block will appear in the following order:
· How European AI Registers Create Transparency and Trust in Public Sector Deployed AI
