Igniting a New Ethos for the Civil Service
Demos Helsinki invites you to reimagine the role of civil servants, from industrial-era bureaucrats to agents of governance. This takes the form of launching a new publication New Ethos For The Civil Service which spells out the zeitgeist of 21st-century civil service.
Governments are about people. Amidst the great crisis, governments recognise a dire need for transformation: a deep systemic change encompassing multiple dimensions. To trigger this transformation, we need transformative civil service.
Civil servants face industrial-era barriers: a rule-based mindset, short-termism, incremental decision-making, and silo-based implementation. Now, from different corners of the world, the values for a 21st-century civil service arise: humility, wisdom, imagination, and collaboration.
At this year‘s Creative Bureaucracy Festival, we want to collectively ignite this new ethos – spreading it among civil servants and innovators, and propelling the transformation forwards! Join our interactive session, where we will engage in shared interpretation and bring the ethos to life.
This is a Meet-Up event, where guests have the opportunity to build new connections and participate in a facilitated networking session among a small group of attendees.
