Cities Ahead: The Power of Cultural Thinking, Planning and Acting
In the past few decades, the approach to city planning has undergone a significant shift. With a greater emphasis on cultural data, sustainability, citizen engagement, and international networks, cities can become more liveable and appealing to both residents and visitors. European cities can also learn from each other’s urban planning practices and exchange ideas.
In this presentation, British urbanist Charles Landry, cultural policy maker Jürgen Enninger, and Goethe-Institut Madrid director Dr Antonia Blau will discuss the challenges and opportunities of cultural planning in the 2020s, the role of international city networks, and the advantages and potential drawbacks of participation.
The Cities Ahead initiative by the Goethe-Institut aims to create a platform for ambitious cultural and creative cities to share best practices and foster innovation.
This event takes place at the Bowl stage, a fishbowl-style session where audience members can join in the discussion based on the topic at hand.
Speakers: Dr. Antonia Blau, Jürgen Enninger, Charles Landry
This session is organised in collaboration with Goethe-Institut.
