Pushing boundaries: ground-breaking intrapreneurship in international bureaucracies
Making change to bring new ideas to fruition in complex bureaucracies is key to their success, and possibly to their survival. Irena Guidikova, head of Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination Programmes at the Council of Europe and formerly in charge of their World Forum on Democracy has been doing that for over 20 years.
In this interview Irena will describe how you can seize opportunities for innovation by launching and growing pilot initiatives which allow to stretch and push at the frontiers of bureaucratic rules and inertia, and grow into transformative actions. Democracy has not sufficiently been rethought in 2000 years with notions like collaborative, deliberative, dialogic, multistakeholder, diffused democracy in currency.
Irena will also share the secret to success behind the Intercultural City network of over 140 cities which she brought to life, and how that has helped cities understand and work with the diversity advantage (a concept coined by Charles Landry and Phil Wood – intrapreneurs need to know how to mine for ideas).
