Transforming government through human-centered digitization: A how-to
Christian Bason, Siim Sikkut, Arune Matelyte
Christian Bason, Ph.D., is CEO of the Danish Design Centre and a leading international authority on design, innovation and leadership in business and government. From 2007 to 2014, he was Director of MindLab, the Danish government’s innovation team, and before this Business Manager with the global consultancy Ramboll. Christian is the author of numerous books, most recently EXPAND: Stretching the Future by Design (2022), and a lecturer at several executive educations. He is also a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Agile Governance and the former Chair of the European Commission’s Expert Group on Public Sector Innovation.
Siim Sikkut is the Government CIO of Estonia, also titled as Deputy Secretary General for IT and Telecom in Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications since March 2017. His role is to set the strategy and policies, to launch and steer strategic initiatives and regulation in areas of digital government and society in Estonia. Siim is one of the founders of Estonia’s groundbreaking e-Residency programme. He was nominated to Apolitical 2018 list of world’s TOP20 most influential people in digital government.
Arune is leading GovTech Lab in Lithuania, a team in public sector that helps governmental institutions work together with innovative startups and companies in solving the most pressing social and public sector challenges. Arune has been working on setting up the GovTech Lab since its inception in 2019 and with the help of enthusiastic team has placed GovTech on the strategic national agenda for Lithuania.
