New men, new women, new cities

Amalia Zepou, Susan Pettifer, ElsaMarie D'Silva, Helene Wolf

2020 English Equality & Equity Public Infrastructures & Space

All over the world and across all sectors, organizations, cities, and countries run by women are thriving. We’re bringing together a remarkable panel of female leaders from all corners of the world to discuss what they bring to the table that men traditionally haven’t – and whether the age of the alpha male is coming to an end. What does responsible leadership look like in a more equitable world?

“Equity” is one of the four key themes from our ‘RISE Cities’ series in collaboration with BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt looking at how to create resilient, intelligent, sustainable and equitable (RISE) cities.

Amalia Zepou

Founder

Amalia Zepou served as vice mayor for civil society and innovation from 2014 to 2019 at the Municipality of Athens. In 2013, she created an award-winning civil society platform “synAthina” which later helped establish a sector for social innovation in the Athens administration. She is presently conducting a senior visiting appointment at LSE Cities with a Bloomberg Philanthropies fellowship.

Susan has a strong interest in creating fair and connected organisations and communities. In 2016 she co-authored a book – New Women, New Men, New Economy – on how Creativity, Diversity, Openness and Equity helps organisations thrive in the new economy. Under her leadership the City was awarded the 2019 HR Award for Best Workplace Diversity and Inclusion program.

Susan has post graduate qualifications in science, management and coaching psychology.
