Designing for a Sustainable Planet B

Indy Johar, Allison Dring, Eva Gladek, Luciana Nery, Bennet Barth

2021 Climate & Sustainability English Finance & Resourcing Public Infrastructures & Space

If one thing is clear in our crisis-ridden world, it’s that we need to replace our extractive economic models with alternatives that better reflect how the universe and humanity actually work. But what would such a utopian ‘human economy’ look like in practice? What does it really take to bring ideas of balance, regeneration and restoration to life? From rural-urban circularity through renewable urban energy infrastructure, alternative financial mechanisms and sustainable supply chains, in this session we will hear from expert global thought leaders and practitioners who are pioneering the most promising innovations from the grassroots up.

This session is part of a 5-part series run by the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt’s ‚RISE Cities‘ programme. RISE Cities explores the leadership required to enable our urban environments to be more resilient, intelligent, sustainable and equitable (RISE).
