Indy Johar

Founding Director/ Dark Matter Labs

Indy Johar is an architect, co-founder of 00 (project00.cc) and most recently Dark Matter, Studio Master at AA.

Indy, on behalf of 00, has co-founded multiple social ventures from Impact Hub Westminster to Impact Hub Birmingham, along with working with large global multinationals & institutions to support their transition to a positive Systems Economy. He has also co-led research projects such as The Compendium for the Civic Economy, whilst supporting several 00 explorations/experiments including the wikihouse.cc, opendesk.cc. Indy is a non executive director of WikiHouse Foundation & RIBA Trustee and Advisor to Mayor of London on Good Growth.

Most recently he has founded Dark Matter – a field laboratory focused on radically redesigning the bureaucratic & institutional infrastructure of our cities, regions and towns for a more democratic, distributed great transition.

Dark Matter work with institutions around the world, from UNDP (Global), McConnell (Canada), TFL, GLA (London) to Bloxhub (Copenhagen)

He has taught, lecturedat various institutions from the University of Bath, TU-Berlin; Architectural Association, University College London, Princeton, Harvard, MIT and New School.

Anir Chowdhury

a2i Programme / Policy Advisor

Anir Chowdhury is the Policy Advisor of the a2i Programmme of the ICT Division and the Cabinet Division of the Government of Bangladesh supported by the UNDP. In this capacity, he leads the formation of a whole-of-society innovation ecosystem in Bangladesh through massive technology deployment, extensive capacity development, integrated policy formulation, whole-of-government institutional reform, and an Innovation Fund. His work on innovation in public service has developed interesting and replicable models of service delivery decentralization, public-private partnerships, and transformation of a traditional bureaucracy into a forward-looking, citizen-centric service provider. He is a regular speaker in international conferences on public service innovation and reform, digital financial inclusion, data-driven policymaking, civil registration and digital identity management, SDGs, youth and community empowerment, educational transformation, public-private partnerships, and South-South Cooperation. He regularly writes in reputed national and international blogs, journals and publications.

Giulio Quaggiotto

Head, Strategic Innovation / undp

Giulio Quaggiotto is the Head, Strategic Innovation, Regional Innovation Center, United Nations Development Programme. As Head of UNDP’s Regional Innovation Center for the Asia Pacific, he works with governments across the region to develop renewal capabilities and accelerate impact on complex development challenges. He is an MIT Research Associate with a focus on lead user innovation.

Prior to joining UNDP, he was the Director of Community at Climate KIC and an Innovation Advisor for the Prime Minister’s Office in the UAE. Giulio’s career includes stints at Nesta, WWF and the World Bank. He was also the manager of the Jakarta Lab of the UN Global Pulse, a flagship innovation initiative of the United Nations Secretary-General on big data for public policy.

His interests include portfolio approaches to innovation and incorporating grassroots innovations into national innovation systems. He is a regular speaker at international conferences on the intersection of social innovation, technology and international development.

Lene Krogh Jeppesen

Senior Consultant / Danish National Centre for Public-Private Sector Innovation

Lene arbeitet seit über 10 Jahren im öffentlichen Sektor Dänemarks im Bereich Innovation und Wissensaustausch. Lene ist überzeugt, dass eine Neugierde auf andere Sichtweisen und die Einbeziehung anderer Perspektiven einen besseren öffentlichen Sektor schaffen. Sie ist ganz in der Nähe von Deutschland auf der Insel Als aufgewachsen und ist eine begeisterte Yogaanhängerin, die allerdings auch eine Vorliebe für High Heels und Rotwein hat. Lene hat einen MSc in Soziologie der University of Copenhagen, den sie durch ihre Kenntnisse in Projektmanagement und narrativer und systemischer Beratung ergänzt. Lene ist verantwortlich für CO-PI’s Tätigkeit auf dem Gebiet der Innovationsbewertung und der Innovation Awards. Sie ist außerdem eine engagierte Botschafterin für die Zusammenarbeit mit nordischen Akteuren auf dem Gebiet der öffentlichen Innovation.

Rubina Zern-Breuer

Senior Researcher / German University for Administrative Sciences Speyer

Rubina is a senior researcher at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer, where she has headed the Innovation Lab for Public Administration since 2018. After studying Modern and Contemporary History and Sociology at the University of Karlsruhe, she completed her PhD at the University of Würzburg, spending time abroad at the DHI Rome. In addition to coordinating public science projects at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, further positrons took her to the University of Heidelberg and to the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI.
Rubina is interested in current developments and innovation processes at the interface of science, public administration and civil society as well as the application of creative and design methods. She has focused in particular at the role of innovation processes in administrative digitisation and trust building in multi-stakeholder processes. She has been a Fellow at InnOsci, a think tank of the Stifterverband and is this year’s Fellow of the Thomas Mann House in Pacific Palisades, USA.

Sabine Junginger

Professor, Head of Competence Centre Design & Management / HSLU

Sabine Junginger, PhD, heads the Competence Center Design & Management and the MA Service Design at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Switzerland. Her work explores how human-centered design approaches promote transformative changes in business, government, and society to achieve the sustainable goals agenda and to arrive at citizen-centric policies and public services.

Sabine serves as an elected member of the international advisory board of the Design Research Society and on the editorial boards of Design Issues and She Ji. Sabine is a Fellow of the Hertie School and Chair of the Board of the non-profit nextlearning e.V. with its Politics for Tomorrow initiative. She holds a PhD in Design from Carnegie Mellon University. Current projects include building the MUNICIPAL network that allows Swiss municipalities, civil society, business, and academia co-create energy solutions together. VA-PEPR explores how voice assistants become part of everyday life at home and what kind of practices and routines people develop around them (https://sites.hslu.ch/va-pepr/en/).
